game plan

hi guys!

i've talked with some of you about starting a blog so we can all share our experiences during the first year of teaching. meredith suggested sharing funny quotes from our students--always a nice boost at the end of the day :) i'm not aware of everyone who is teaching in the fall, so if i missed someone, just let me know and i will! right now i've thought of a mix of teach for america and UR educ dpt people...

hope everyone is enjoying their summers!

  1. Hey Erin!

This is a great idea! I was actually going to do a blog, but I definitely use this one instead!

  2. Did we invite Richie(LA)? Laura DelGiorno(Bmore)? Sarah Burd (China)? Becky Walker (Greece)? Theresa (Cali)? Julia Rees(Utah)?

I'm trying to think of something funny from my middle school today. Well I had to take a group of kids to lunch b/c we are testing and the schedule is off, and no one wanted to sit with me. I guess that's as funny as I can think of. Not to amusing giving tests. I'll update more next week when I'm showing movies haha.

  4. I am quite excited about this blog, great idea! I had my first day of substitute teaching today, so I am sure that as the end of the year wraps up, I will have plenty of stories to share. The only thing that was remotely funny was the hall monitor yelling at me because I didn't have a pass in the hallway. Because it was casual friday, I was wearing normal clothes, and apparently looked like a middle schooler. Greattttt.

  6. Second week of summer school - time for a story:

We gave out a mid-summer survey to our students and here is one of the questions and responses that I got...

Question: What do you think of our math classroom so far this summer?

Student Answer: On a scale of 1-5, I would say it's a 5 and not the absolute value of 5, just the positive kind because it has been great.

  7. I've started unpacking things for my Kindergarten classroom. The other day we got to unpack the BIGGEST mound of school supplies I've ever seen. It was like an aisle of Staples. I was in teacher heaven. (well, at least elementary school teacher heaven. I guess high schoolers don't need gallons of tempra paint and construction paper for crafts.)

I'm getting excited for the start of school and I hope you all are too! Miss you all!
